Fate's home lay deep in Heathen's Spine. A lone wolf lay watching in one of the mountain's caves. Fate of the Heaven Flute. Crazed from lonliness, Fate's blue eyes were bloodshot from the lack of sleep. Grey wolf figures appeared at every corner. There he is! Thunder! Come back! "Fate, he's dead, give it up! You're alone, all alone!" A menacing voice cackled. "Your brother's dead, we pushed him off of a cliff!" Th hunting dogs howled. Fate shook her head, trying to shake away those tormenting voices. "Get away from me!" Weak with fatigue, Fate closed her eyes but images of her brother's smashed, cold, dead body haunted her visions. Outside the cave, the blizzard raged. The shadow of a lone figure suddenly appeared. "Who-Who's there?" Fate whimpered. They're trying to kill me! No! I will kill them! Fate jumped up and charged at the figure, growling with foam flying out from the corners of her mouth.

Shadowdeath had plans. He was, though none knew, not a loyal, brave member of the pack. He would not risk his life for the rest, nor would he or could he stand them any longer. The pack was hanging on him, pulling at his fur and making him itch. Like fleas. No, worse than fleas. Like tape worms.
His claws clicked heavily as he stepped carefully through the rock. His head hung low to the ground, following the scent, but also deep in thought. He hadn't been able to take the pack, so he'd decided to go hunting, just to take his mind off of power. His muscles ached from walking, which he'd been doing since dawn that day. It would be night soon. He didn't care.
The trail of what he thought had been a rabbit lead up into the mountains, and he slowly realized this was no rabbit. The smell was too weak to be a bear, to strong to be a rabbit, but too strange to be a wolf. What was it? He'd find out soon enough.
With a grunt Shadowdeath leapt up onto a high rock. He heard a noise, and froze. The entrance to a cave loomed before him, daring him to enter. He stared, and thought he saw something move. Knew he saw something move. His muscles tightened, not from fear, but from anticipation. One moment he stood there in silence, the next he was faced with a wolf, charging head of at him, foaming at the mouth. It looked to have rabies, or something of the sort.
Quickly and quietly, Shadowdeath took a step back at the last possible moment.

Fate was surprised at missing her foe. He didn't charge at her...maybe he wasn't after her life... Fate spit the foam away, and bristling, she demanded, "Who are you? What are you doing here? How long have you been here? When did you arrive? Where did you come from Why are you here? And most important, do you know anything about a grey wolf called Thunder of the Seven Paths? Have you seen the body of a grey wolf? And, how do I know that you're not just another shadow, waiting for the opportune moment to jump into my mind and make me crazy?" Fate was unaware that she was already crazy. "Tell me or prepare to die!"

Shadowdeath gaped, watching the wolf spastically chatter on. He would have laughed out loud, if he hadn't known she was serious. She certainly looked crazy to him. She sounded crazy. Something told him he wasn't. Nevertheless, Shadowdeath was a sly little buggar. He wasn't about to give away all his information, and possibly end his whole objective.
"First off," He growled, not as a threat, but thinking it was the only way to break through her thick skull, "You'll answer me all those questions before I even consider one." This wasn't a suggestion, he was telling her. "And second of all, calm down, and sit down, before you fall." He motioned with his muzzle to where she stood, which was on a large, loose rock jutting off the side of the mountain. One harsh movement, and the rock would surley detach itself and send her and itself plummeting to the bottom of the hill. And then Shadowdeath would be left with a mess and a body, two things he had not the patience for at the moment.

Fate glanced around at where she stood, and found the sense in her to move closer to the cave and sit down. Glaring at this...new...wolf, she cautiously said, "I am calm."
After rolling around the thought that she would have to answer her own questions first before he would, she thought to herself bitterly, What else is there to lose? "Alright, I'll answer my questions. I am Fate of the Heaven Flute. "Chuckling, she retorted, "The Heaven Flute's fate was DOOM!!!Haheheha!" Fate caught herself. What, was she doing? "Back to the point. I'm Fate, not much you can do about that. Second question. I live here, stupid. Third question. Hmm...I don't remember, "she grinned wickedly. "Next, somewhere you've never been to. Fifth question. I live here. The number six. Thunder's my brother, and he fell off of a cliff. I haven't seen the body that was my brother's or else I wouldn't be asking. Next. I don't know, that's why I'm asking. Last. I've told you everything you need to know and as for death, I really don't care anymore, "She laughed bitterly. "This is what happens when you lose everything! You lose your mind! Your soul! Your sanity! Everything!" Fate laughed like a maniac. "And there's nothing you can do about it! HAH!"
Fate's eyes narrowed. "Oh, so you think me crazy eh? You don't seem that much more sane...Besides, I assure you, I have every ounce of sanity I once had. Of course, you don't know when once is!"Fate smiled gleefully, as if she'd just caught her first prey. "It could have been after I became crazy!" Laughing giddily, Fate's cold, crazed eyes gazed at this wolf, inspecting his features and memorizing every detail so she would be able to get revenge in the future should anything happen.

Shadowdeath was tired of her talking. He did not have patience, not now, not ever, and her constant blabbing was really getting to him. Maybe she can't help it...she does look very crazy.. He tried to reason, but he still wanted to leave. When she finally finished talking, a cold stare beamed at her from Shadowdeath's yellow-green eyes. They were full of...nothing, though by the way he stood she'd be able to tell he was disinterested and annoyed.
"You're right," his voice was solemn, "I'm not sane." He turned away from her and slowly making his way down the rocky mountain.

Fate growled. "Jerk! I hope a pack of hounds chase you and you fall off of a cliff and drown! Let's see how you like that! I'll dance over your dead carcass! I'll, I'll...I'll howl in victory over your foolish foolishness! Crazy, mangy, old, wolf! You shouldn't even be called a wolf! More like, oh, I don't know, how about...FOOL!!" she taunted.
Fate enjoyed taunting others after The Incident. She loved how their eyes would flash in anger. To tell the truth, she liked seeing them squirm under her constant string of insults. Most of all, she hoped for a fight, one that would momentarily bring back her saneness. That's what fights did to her, they would turn her back into the wolf she was before as long as the fight lasted.
C'mon, get provoked already! she silently muttered to herself. " Mottled, twisted...TWOLEG! Where's your long stick now? Shoot. I dare you. Can't now can you?" Fate gloated gleefully. To add to the taunts, Fate ran up to this wolf and nipped his tail. Not hard enough to bite that piece of, but hard enough to hurt and draw a little bit of blood. "And you know what? You're a filthy mongrel(sp)((Haven't used that in a long time...)) whose blood tastes like mud! i bet that's what you're made of!" Fate's rantings continued as she warmed up. She couldn't help it, nor could she stop them from slipping through her mouth. One of the both advantage and disadvantages of being //partially// crazy.

Shadowdeath stopped to listen to her stream of rubbish. Her words flew through him as would a ghost, not touching a thing or leaving behind any traces. He was invulnerable when it came to petty insults and taunts, and her persitance encouraged him to laugh. He didn't. Instead he looked at her with cold eyes, not feeling a single rabbit's terd with of sympathy. When she bit his tail, though, that made him angry. Physical insults where different from verbal.
He responded with a savage like growl, his lip curled, and he snapped his jaws at her, saliva flinging from his mouth. He was not trying to bite her, but warning her. He had no patience, especially not for crazy, demented little pups.
"I'm warning you, I will kill you if we fight." He told her in a harsh voice, between clenched teeth. He had a bubbling amount of feirceness and energy that he hadn't used in a long time because of the lack of fight's he'd been in recently. With those unleashed, there'd be no stopping him from killing. It was his instinct. The warrior like look of his slipped away then, and he once again resumed his cold gaze, looking square into her eyes. He stood completley still now, and the light breeze ruffled his fur.

Fate managed to stop the string of curses when he paid her no heed until the nip. Cold eyes stared back at cold eyes. Ever since her transformation, she'd never backed down from a fight. Never did, never will, never want to. However, this time, she made an exception in attacking right away.
"I will leave you alone, if you answer my questions. At least tell me what you now about a grey wolf you might have seen, dead or alive." Her tone was hrash. She no longer had the urge to hear her own voice.

Shadowdeath hesitated, thinking it strange how she switched from crazy, to somewhat normal, in his book. He did not want to talk to this wolf. This wolf, who obviously though of herself as the one and only in the entire land. What was he? Her slave that she could just order around?
"A grey wolf you say?" He repeated the question. "Well, I've seen over one hundred in my lifetime, dead and alive." His words where quick and snappy, though a hint of mockery lay within them. "So now, if your majesty permits, I will take my leave."

Fate's eyes narrowed even further. He knew now where she lived. What kept him from coming back and killing her in her sleep? Besides, he was the first visitor in so long...
"I'll come with you, as you leave." Fate smiled cheerfully, and evil scowl hidden behind the happy face. "Along the way, I can describe my wolf to you, and then you can answer my question."

"You'll do no such thing." He responded quickly. He'd not have a bi-polar little she-devil scampering after him as he made his way. He was not old, but he felt old. He was mature, wise, and experienced. He felt very old.

"Oh but I insist", she said, grinning and revealing rows of sharp and glistening white fangs. She lifted one paw and set it back down, her long and sharp nails clinking against the stone. Fate shifted slightly, and her body did not rip with muscle like her brother's used to, but the muscles still moved underneathe her pelt. She was laughing, but her cold, unmerry eyes were staring unrelentless at this wolf.

"Well insist somewhere else." Shadowdeath said shortly. The wolf was obviously crazy. He didn't like being around crazy people, he thought it was contagious. Without another word he turned and started walking away.

Amusement finally glittered in Fates eyes. "And, just where, will you go?"she asked, taking up the most innocent, pup-like demeanor. I'll follow him, I won't let him get away. I'm sure he's hiding something!
